Chat Dashboard

The main MeghaOS workspace — chat with the assistant, share files, and watch it work.

The Chat Dashboard is where you spend most of your time in MeghaOS. It's the main workspace: a conversation with the assistant on one side, generated interfaces on your canvas, and a sidebar for switching between chat, your skills, context, and shared documents.

Layout

A left sidebar switches between four areas:

TabWhat it's for
ChatYour conversation with the assistant — type requests, get answers and live widgets
SkillsThe capabilities available to the assistant, and ones it has created
ContextWhat the assistant currently knows for this session (working folder, shared files, memory in play)
DocumentsFiles you've shared, ready for the assistant to read or act on

Chatting

Type a request in the message box and press enter. Depending on what you ask, the response is an answer, a generated widget, or a multi-step workflow. See Talking to MeghaOS for how requests are interpreted.

While the assistant works, it shows its live status so you can see what it's doing:

StatusMeaning
ThinkingPlanning a response
ResearchingGathering information (e.g. web search)
AnalyzingProcessing data or documents
Working / ProcessingRunning tools or building the interface

A progress indicator appears for longer, multi-step tasks.

Working with messages

Each message has quick actions:

  • Copy — copy the message text
  • Edit — revise your request and re-send
  • Update — refresh a generated result

Sharing files

You can hand files to the assistant two ways:

Drag & drop

Drag files onto the dashboard — a "Drop files to share" zone appears. Release to add them.

Browse

Use the file picker to choose files from disk.

MeghaOS recognizes common types automatically — Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF, Markdown, images, and text — and the assistant can read, summarize, transform, or build on them. See Files & Documents.

Working folder

Set a working folder to give the assistant a default place to read and write files for the session. Once set, requests like "summarize the reports in my working folder" or "save this as a draft" resolve against it without you specifying full paths.

Context

The Context tab shows what the assistant is drawing on right now — the working folder, any shared documents, and the memory facts relevant to your request. It's a quick way to understand why you got the answer you did, and to clear context you no longer want in play.

Sessions & history

Conversations are saved as sessions you can revisit or delete — see Chat History. Starting a new chat gives the assistant a clean slate (long-term memory still carries across).

Note

On the Linux editions the Chat Dashboard sits inside the full desktop alongside your windows and workspaces. On macOS it's the main surface of the preview app. See Editions & Platforms.
