Installation

Requirements and setup for each MeghaOS edition.

How you install MeghaOS depends on your edition. All editions include both halves of the system β€” the desktop experience and the AI assistant β€” bundled together; you don't install them separately.

Linux β€” Desktop Environment

Add the MeghaOS desktop to an existing Linux distribution.

Requirements

A modern 64-bit Linux distribution with a Wayland-capable graphics stack. A working audio/network stack is recommended so the system-control features function.

Install the package

Install the MeghaOS Desktop Environment package for your distribution.

Select the session

Log out, choose MeghaOS from your display manager's session list, and log back in. The desktop and assistant start automatically.

Linux β€” Operating System

The OS edition is the same desktop delivered as a complete system.

Get the image

Download the MeghaOS OS installer image.

Create installation media

Write the image to a USB drive with any standard imaging tool.

Install

Boot from the media and follow the installer. MeghaOS is the default desktop on first login β€” no extra configuration.

macOS β€” Preview App

The macOS edition is a standard application.

Requirements

A recent version of macOS.

Install & open

Download the MeghaOS app and move it to your Applications folder, then open it.

Grant permissions

macOS will prompt for permissions the first time features need them β€” Automation, Screen Recording, Accessibility, and access to apps like Messages, Mail, and Calendar. Approving these enables the Apple integrations and computer-control features.

Note

The macOS app runs alongside your normal Mac desktop to preview MeghaOS features β€” it does not replace macOS. The full windowed desktop, virtual workspaces, and built-in desktop apps are part of the Linux editions.

After installing

  1. Open Settings and choose your AI provider and model.
  2. Optionally add credentials for the integrations you want (email, messaging, etc.).
  3. Start asking β€” see Talking to MeghaOS.

Where your data lives

MeghaOS stores everything locally on your device β€” your chats, calendar, saved widget data, memory, and settings. Nothing is published or shared; MeghaOS is a closed, self-contained system. See Configuration for details.
